Civil War Union General staff button by Scovill of Waterbury, CT. In the 2006 appraisal there is an attached note that read, "Josephine, a button from the Confederate uniform from father S. A. Ashe." 18C Chinese domed jade plaque carved in low relief with Buddhist auspicious symbols. Color is a whitish pale celadon. It is carved very, very thin with two sets of small holes to the back edge. This may have been attached to clothing or fabric or, perhaps, attached to a large ruyi scepter. Condition is excellent and it is wonderfully translucent. Measures: 4" x 3.25".
Very hard to find Chinese scholar's desk plank. Made of huanghuali wood, the plank has aged beautifully having a wonderful warm golden patina with a beautiful sheen. There are 3 minor age cracks at 3 of the 4 corners. These cracks do not compromise the integrity of this incredible scholar's item, but instead attests to its age. Planks were used to set objects on that a Scholar was using. He could have also used it to display an item or items. Measures 15" x 6.5" x .5"
Republic period, 1940s or earlier, semi translucent jade brush washer, or possibly a snuff tray, in an unusual oval shape with a small carved flower button in the center. The jade has a lovely soft polished surface which is always rare to find. Color is best described as white jade with a pale celadon tint and, for presentation; we have it resting on a white jade bi from a later date. Both are included in the sale. A fine, circa 1700-1730, English walnut writing chest strung with boxwood and crossbanded. The three-drawer superstructure has a fold flap above two short and two long drawers on a molded plinth and small compressed bun feet. In excellent antique condition, it measures 36ʺ wide × 18.25ʺ deep × 35ʺ high.
A stunning Kamakura Bori tea tray. It was hand rubbed to enhance the red and black lacquers that were applied over the wood carved tray. In very good condition, it measures 10" diameter x 1.5" deep.
Three shards from a black terracotta jar dating to the Warring States Period, possibly as late as early Han (206-220 BC). One piece has a lion's head mask. The longest shard measure 4.75". Excellent study pieces. Price includes shipping worldwide.
From the 1950's, inspired by the Art Deco movement, is this pale pink and clear Lucite moonglow hair stick pin. In perfect condition, it measures 6" long. The pink ornament measures 1.25" x 7/8".
A 1940s Kashmir wood turned box featuring a wonderful warm gold and green lacquered mottled design over black. It measures 5.75 inches across and 4.5 high including finial.
A very cute small Chinese white glazed turtle attributed to North Carolina potter Virginia Shelton of J.B. Cole Pottery. On the base bottom there is an indication that there are some initials, but they are almost completely mostly obliterated by the glaze. In excellent condition, this little guy would make for a perfect and fun paperweight and a great piece for the collector. Measures 1.75" high, 2.5" diameter.
A lovely and cute Japanese pickle relish dish dated to the late Meiji period (1868-1912). The type is known as geisha ware due the subject matter so wonderfully represented. It is further without chips, cracks, or any damage whatsoever. It measures 9" long x 3.25" wide.

Old Kalaga from Myanmar (now Burma) featuring an unusual but colorful bird. The kalaga is embroidered with a combination of metallic and plain threads, sequins, beads and glass stones. Applied around the bird in a circle are glass-like stones that give the appearance of moonstones. In very good antique/vintage condition, it measures about 14.25 inches square. Circa 1950's or earlier.
Rich Green majolica plate by Wardle of England with leaf and grape pattern. Note the intentional crackling of the glaze in the large leaf. In excellent antique condition with some expected wear to the higher parts of the design and the edges. There is an old chip on the back (see last photo). The glaze is good throughout, any weird variations you might think you see are cause by my lighting. Plate measures 9 inches across. Dates 1880.
