Asian Blue and White Porcelain Kangxi Style Charger stock #AsianCharger
An ambiguous large blue and white porcelain dish decorated with a central roundel of prunus, pine and bamboo, The Three Friends, with a border featuring stylized flower heads on a cracked ice ground. The design references are all Chinese from the Kangxi period (1662-1722). However, virtually every larger piece of Japanese export porcelain from the mid 18th century to the mid 19th century will be found to have one or several spur marks. In China fire supports are common up until early Ming and then are found again during the Qianlong period. This was intentional even if the item wasn't actually fired on supports, but usually only to mimic archaic wares. So, whether Chinese or Japanese you will have to decide. I can safely say it is Asian and measures 11 inches in diameter x 1.75 inches high. Dates circa 1800- 1850.
