A pair of 1950’s variegated green serpentine jade stone Chinese phoenix birds with rosewood stands. The birds have great sharp details with wonderful coloring, and the polishing is simply gorgeous. The stands are deep rosewood and carved to fit each piece. In excellent condition, they measure 9.5” high on stand. Birds only measure 8" high, 4" wide, 1.5" thick. NOTE: Serpentine stone as is often referred to as "serpentine jade" due to its many similarities to jade such as its hardness, color and surface sheen once polished. Some of the highest prices ever recorded at auctions were for antique Chinese objects made from serpentine. |
