Never before offered anywhere, is this extremely rare zitan treasure shelf. These were a favorite of any good scholar who would place his small objects of miniature toggles, snuff bottles, jades, etc. The design is simple, streamlined and clean; which is a feature of the late 18th to early 19th. Often zitan lacked excessive carving, due its natural beauty which never required a coat of lacquer. The wood is in excellent condition and has a very natural dark patina that only comes with time. There is some slight shrinkage which is common on old zitan, the size of this rare treasure is 19.5" high and 16" wide. Weight 8.6 lbs |
